Cvent recently announced the top 50 cities for meetings and events in the United States. Guess what destination came out on top? That's right, Orlando was ranked as the No.1 spot for group meetings in the country, beating out competitors like Chicago, Las Vegas and Washington, D.C. Just goes to show that attendees really are more inspired here.

"We are honored and excited to be rated as the top U.S. meetings destination by Cvent. Corporate meetings are a crucial business segment for Orlando, and our No.1 ranking validates the effort we have put into working with these groups," said Tammi Runzler, senior vice president of convention sales and services at Visit Orlando. "More importantly, Orlando remains committed to making the destination a compelling choice for corporate meetings."

Founded in 1999, Cvent is the world's largest meetings and event-management company and has more than 950 employees worldwide.
Cvent offers Web-based software for meeting site selection, online event registration, event management, email marketing and web surveys.

Teens Explore Career Opportunities in Tourism

 Discover Tourism 2012

The Universal Orlando Foundation Boys and Girls Club branch recently took part in Visit Orlando's Discover Tourism program. The week long event provides an opportunity for today's youth to gain interest and insight into possible career opportunities in the travel and tourism industry. The program incorporates field trips and behind the scenes tours to Orlando's tourism venues to educate, inform, and inspire teens to pursue careers in hospitality.

The group began their journey at the Orange County Convention Center, touring the West Building and getting to see a tradeshow in action. Next participants learned about accommodations and hotel management at the Rosen Centre Hotel, where the students engaged in a surprise hands-on activity demonstrating banquet hall setup and custom napkin folding techniques!

Other presentations and tours included a mock site inspection at the Peabody Orlando complete with the Duck Master, and learning the ins and outs of theme park and attraction operations at Universal Orlando and Fun Spot Attractions. The program concluded with a visit to the Orlando International Airport and the UCF Rosen College of Hospitality Management.
